Emergency refuge chamber

Industrial safety

Strata EMERGENCY RESCUE CHAMBERS (SECs) are built to provide protection to personnel in an emergency and to provide air that is isolated from potentially contaminated air resulting from events such as fire, ventilation failure or sudden release of toxic gas. In the event of an emergency, personnel will be provided with sufficient breathing air, food and water available to a certain number of people for a certain period of time.

UANs are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements. The floor structure is made of non-slip board and is fully welded to the walls and roof on all sides to ensure an airtight seal. The entrance door has a standard height of 1.75 m and a width of 1.2 m. The door is equipped with a viewing window made of multi-layer shockproof and fire-resistant polycarbonate. The door handle on both sides prevents the door from being closed accidentally. The cameras have external locator lighting and an alarm siren (110dB) to make it easier to locate the camera in poor emergency conditions.

Strata specializes in custom-built chambers to suit the individual needs of mines. Wheel and towing packages are available, with optional high clearance and heavy-duty wheels.

In an emergency situation (fire, explosion, gas leak or collapse), the UAS will provide a sufficient amount of breathable air for a certain number of people for an estimated time. If the chamber is disconnected from the mine's power source, the chamber will provide battery operation and oxygen regeneration for a minimum of 48 hours (depending on customer requirements).
Self-Rescuer Switching Point (SRP)

The PPS has an entry and exit door and provides a clean, well-lit “room” in which workers can safely change their breathing apparatus, talk, rest and recover before further evacuation. The PPS has an air filtration system connected to the mains, as well as a built-in backup battery and air supply reserve.

Reserve consumables are designed for 24 hours or more.

Components and available options
Emergency refuge chamber
The cells have large reflective signs on all sides indicating the cell and the direction of entry. And also a red and white stripe around it for better visibility of the camera in an accident.
SAFETY AND REFLECTIVE DIRECTION SIGNS
The chambers are equipped with guides for forklifts, a frame, and eye bolts for lifting mechanisms. A protective arc is installed around the case to minimize damage during transportation. Special lifting guides or hardware required to lower the camera down the barrel are available upon request.
LOADING AND TRANSPORTATION
The chamber is equipped with an inward opening escape hatch, which is equipped with an 18mm thick polycarbonate viewing window. An emergency hatch is necessary to provide an emergency exit in case the main entrance is blocked. The emergency hatch is equipped with locks.
SIDE EMERGENCY HATCH
A first aid kit sufficient to assist all workers is mounted on the cell wall. An additional set can be wall mounted inside upon request.
FIRST AID
Powder fire extinguishers with a capacity of 9 kg are mounted and secured inside the airlock vestibule. Additional fire extinguishers are available upon request.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER
The restroom, hidden behind an opaque partition curtain, consists of a portable dry closet with a 19-liter water container.
PERSONAL HYGIENE
Food rations are collected at the rate of 2000 kcal of food and 2 liters of water per person per day in individual packages. Food and water are stored under the seats and have a shelf life of 6 years.
FOOD AND WATER
The air conditioning system, powered by 24 V DC with dehumidification control, inverter type with remote control, has low current consumption. *The amount of heat generated by the human body, ambient temperature and CO2 scrubber over a long period of time creates a very harmful environment for the health of those in the chamber, therefore air conditioning is mandatory.
COOLING AND DRYING SYSTEM
Six LED lights are placed inside the chamber. RED and BLUE LED lights are placed on the outside of the camera body for identification and detection. The lighting is connected to a switching module of lighting equipment and an emergency kit with manual control, bypassing the automation.
LIGHTING
The outside of the camera is yellow or white (at the customer’s discretion). The inside of the chamber is white. The outside of the chamber is coated in accordance with high wear resistance requirements using mastic coatings. The internal coating meets occupational safety and health requirements and is suitable for domestic use.
PAINTING OF RESCUE CHAMBERS
Automatic backup power supply consisting of lead-acid, fiber shockproof batteries connected through a charging module, providing power to operate the air conditioner, CO2 scrubber, lighting system, atmospheric monitoring (gas detection) and communication system (on request) for a stated period of time.

Transformer: All our cameras have a standard built-in step-down transformer operating from 220/110V/50Hz, but with the ability to be manufactured according to customer requirements. All camera systems operate on direct current.
BACKUP DC CURRENT SOURCE
Storage spaces are located under the seats as well as on overhead shelves. The seats are made of high quality padding and wear-resistant materials.
SEATING AND STORAGE
To make it easier to move, you can add an additional bag with wheels and towing device. The wheels are made of hard, high-strength rubber (not filled with air).
WHEELS AND TOWING
Optionally, the entrance section is separated from the main room by a second steel door or a heavy plastic curtain to minimize the access of harmful substances into the chamber. This section, together with the minimum excess pressure generated by the air flow into the chamber, allows you to avoid the ingress of harmful substances during work.
