Secure servers on-site or in remote locations display a digital mine map via a graphical user interface. Real-time positioning is displayed on the map, and messaging is displayed and logged. Operators on the surface interact with miners underground via the user interface. Mine maps are easily customizable and updatable. A network-based operations center can be set up that links data from multiple mines into a single, user-friendly interface. This allows one or more personnel to monitor operations in one or more mines simultaneously from a central control room. And to interact with miners, escorting them, and equipment using real-time positioning via customizable graphical mine maps.
